Chia Seeds in Oats with Wheat Germ Recipe

Mixing chia seeds in oats is my favorite breakfast to prep for my family. If you don’t know much about chia seeds, here’s a little article for you to review. In short, chia seeds carry some excellent benefits that will have you and your body jumping for joy!

What I like about the article is that chia seeds contain Omega 3 (ω-3 alpha-linolenic acid) and Omega 6 (ω-3 alpha-linolenic acid), which are fatty acids that can help our bodies with cell function and reduce inflammation as long as they aren’t used in excess. I also like that the chia seeds cannot be genetically modified. So, if you’re tired of seeing that “partially produced with genetic engineering” label on your food, I don’t think chia seeds will have that problem.

Alright, so today we will be cooking up some oats with chia seeds, wheat germ, and a pop of blueberries.

‼️Allergy Tip: If you struggle with celiac disease, gluten intolerance or a wheat allergy, push wheat germ out of the way!

Equipment

  • 1 Stainless Steel 1.5 QT Pot

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Oats
  • 1-2 Tbsp Wheat Germ
  • 1 Tbsp Chia Seed
  • ½ Cup Blueberries Any Fruit
  • 2 ½ Cup Water or Milk
  • ¼ Tsp Ceylon Cinnamon
  • ¼ Tsp Nutmeg

Instructions

  • Bring water or milk to a boil with medium-high heat, then add the oatmeal.
  • Drop the chia seeds and wheat germ into the pot, then stir for 2-4 minutes. You want a creamy consistency, so keep the milk near you if you need more liquid.
  • Add nutmeg and ceylon cinnamon to enhance the taste. Remember to stir the spices in thoroughly.
  • Remove from the heat, but let it stand for 1 minute before digging in. Drizzle some honey on top and finish with a bunch of blueberries. You can’t go wrong with blueberries!
