Lately, I have been playing around with illustrating people and perspective drawing. It’s somewhat challenging, but I’m continuing to grow in this area. This blog will showcase my 5 quick steps to creating a half-opened door for beginners! Let’s Go ✨
Supplies:
Now that you have all of the supplies, let’s get to drawing this door mmkay!
Step 1. Draw a long rectangle with your pencil. If you want to use a ruler, you can.
Step 2. Draw another rectangle inside of your original rectangle. This will be the door base. It’s just like what you see in your home!
Step 3. Draw another rectangle, but this time it will be at an angle. Take note of how I sketched it differently from the other ones. The slight angle is important because it helps the door appear open. Be sure to erase the area that I’m pointing to in the photo below. Also, draw one line on each side to close the door base.
Step 4. So in order for this to look like a door, you need to add some “door – like details”. You can get door inspiration from your home, or you can always look online. I looked at my office door for my guide. All you need to do is add a long rectangle to the top, create a little space, and then add one more. Can you see the door shaping out? Now you only need a knob and then your door is complete
Step 5. You can decorate the door how you want, but I sketched out something from my imagination! I didn’t want to add color because it looked so neat in the pencil form. You can definitely drop some color on the page for your finished piece!
I hope you enjoyed this quick perspective tutorial. Let me know in the comments if you would like to see more! -Danielle ❤️
