Did you know that Cherries are trending? Now, I don’t always follow trends, but this one is too cute. I wanted to get back into making machine embroidery designs so here’s my first one back. It took a whole day of testing, but I finally reached the point where I didn’t have too many thread breaks. 🫠 Take it from me: Use the mesh sleeve over the cone thread the first time.
Here’s a quick BTS (Behind-the-scenes) photo.

Tweaking the density took longer than I thought, and then I had to fix a stitch jump between the two cherries. Digitizing embroidery designs can be fun, but whew very time consuming. Originally, I planned to use a cotton tote bag, but I scratched that idea and went with the light-weight denim that I had collecting dust in my garage for three years. I know, crazy, right? 😅

tips for machine embroidery designs on denim.
1. Sulky Self- Adhesive Tear Away for the win.
Sulky is my choice for stabilizer. It held up well, and no lie, I’m so thankful it doesn’t expire because I’m sure I’ve had it for over 10 years lol

2. Invest in quality machine embroidery thread
I don’t have the best embroidery thread, except for a few Aurifil cones after being on the ambassador team in 2022. Once again, Aurifil stitched out nicely to be cotton thread. I thought my cheapo Amazon thread would hold up for the cherry stem, but I was wrong. Seriously, it drove me crazy with constant breaks. So, no, to the no way, when it comes to cheap thread. Learn from me and just get quality thread from the start.

I need to get my hands on Kingstar or Madiera because those are considered top-tier in the machine embroidery world.
3.Make sure your machine can take a USB.
If you want to use this free machine embroidery file, you will need a machine that has Wi-Fi transfer or can take a USB. Your machine doesn’t need to have a screen, just USB capabilities. I wish I could upgrade my Quattro 3 so I can benefit from wifi data transferring, but my brother is considered ancient. Most dealers laugh when they see me coming, but it’s okay, USB transferring is cool with me.

🛜 USB vs. Wifi : If you own a machine that can transfer custom machine embroidery files wirelessly, then whooohooo! Comment below and share if it actual works for this cherry design.
4. Stitch on light-weight denim
My light-weight denim has been chilling out too long in my creative stash, so I just had to use it. I’m sure the cherry design will stitch out great on medium-weight denim, but you may need to use a heavier stabilizer.

5. Quality Machine Embroidery Scissors
I hurried up and purchased some appliqué embroidery scissors because regular sewing shears just didn’t cut it. If you use your embroidery machine often, I’m sure you already have these in your stash.
