Happy Thursday! I’ve been a busy bee, but I am excited to share this drawing tutorial with you. I discovered the ArtSet 4 app after seeing Vashti Harrison post about it on her Instagram. I just had to try it out! The app is free to download, but I paid the extra money to play around with the pro features. Now, everyone knows that I love Procreate, but this app offers something different that I haven’t seen before and that’s a palette knife! What a genius idea from the app creators. I’m telling you, as soon as you start painting, it feels like you’re creating on canvas.
ArtSet 4 is a fun app for me as an adult, so I know kids will enjoy all the cool painting features too. Okay, I will stop chatting about it and show you the awesomeness! Let’s get started.
Supplies:
- Art Set 4 App
- Ipad
- Apple Pencil
Let’s set up the toolbar
Step 1. We will start by creating a custom canvas at 1500 x 1500 pixels, then set up the bottom toolbar.
Step 2. Tap the (+) button to change the paper from smooth to textured.
Step 3. Tap on brushes panel to change it to gouache.
If you want to add additional brushes to the toolbar, you will need to drag and drop them. Here’s an example of thick oil being added to the toolbar.
Change the paint color to white by tapping the circular button on the far left of the toolbar.
Step 4. Tap the (+) sign to add layers, eyedropper, move, erase, and trash to the toolbar.
Step 5. Tap the paint tube to change it to the palette knife, then create a circle for the head. Use the move tool to place the head further down on the canvas, then add a new layer to create the ears.
Step 6. Create the bunny ears as shown below using the thick oil paint. Be sure to adjust the brush size before moving on to the next step.

Creating the Kawaii Face
Step 7. Follow the pictures below to draw a kawaii face. Oh, and make sure to add those pink cheeks!
Let’s make the bowtie.
Step 8. Change the brush color to white purple, add a new layer, then follow the pictures to create the bowtie.
Creating the body
Step 9. Add a new layer above the head, adjust the brush size to 60%, then begin painting the body.
Adding the Egg Basket
Step 10. Create two lines moving downward like a mountain for the bunny’s hands, then overlap the hands with a basket. The grass is made by adding tiny strokes on top of the basket, and the eggs are simple ovals.
To show the bunny holding the basket, you will need to add the white paws on top of the basket.
Finish the kawaii bunny by merging all the layers together and exporting it to your iPad.
Here are a few close-ups of my kawaii bunny!
As always, I hope you enjoyed this blog tutorial! I’ll be back next month with another cool project!
