Guess who had the opportunity to check out the Sizzix Sidekick and die cut collection from the oh, so amazing Shelly Kim?
Me!! So the cats are out of the bag, y’all! Shelly, known as Letters by Shells, has made her debut collection with Sizzix, and I had the pleasure of getting more than just a peek.
Sizzix was so kind to send me her entire collection and the sizzix sidekick! Now, if you know me, you know that I have tried just about every craft and craft machine under the sun, but for some reason, I never tried Sizzix. I will say that as a craft hoarder, it’s nice to adopt a new tool to the family that is small. If you’re looking to dabble in junk journaling using die cuts, the Sizzix sidekick is a great introduction to the brand without breaking the bank.

Lately, I’ve been journaling a lot, so I thought it would be cool to create a junk journal even though nothing I’m putting inside is actually junk. There are so many memories that I want to capture from our son starting kindergarten, so of course, I made a YouTube video sharing my process.
Check out the video and see how my junk journal came together using Shelly’s new collection.
❗️Hold up! Before you watch the video, here are 5 things I like about her new collection and the Sizzix Sidekick.
- I absolutely love the borders. They are so trendy and everyone loves a funky border for scrapbooking, journaling, and of course, card making.
- The Sizzix Sidekick is very lightweight and easy to transport. I will say that I had some issues with the suction cups staying on my table, but that’s probably because my table is a little bit on the glossy side.
- The fruit collection is so detailed. I kept wondering about Sizzix’s process for translating Shelly’s designs into die cuts. I bet it looked really cool coming together in the factory.
- As a handletter myself, I was so happy to see Shelly incorporate it into her collection. I know that it’s deeply a part of her brand, and I appreciated seeing her stay true to herself.
- The checkered 2D Embossing design just felt really cool in my hand. If you want to see it in action, here’s the time stamp!
That’s it folks! It’s been a few weeks since my last blog because believe it or not kindergarten has me really busy! I’m making a new schedule so I can return to my consistency, but I really hope you all have been well.
Once again, thank you to Sizzix and Shelly for allowing me to review the collection. As always, all of my opinions are my own.
