So this happens to be my third go around customizing shoes and honestly, I love it!
It doesn’t matter if I’m adding paint, embroidery, or jewels, I always have a good time using my imagination to create something funky!
For today’s project, I will teach you how to customize canvas shoes with wildflowers and the popular 🎤*Singing*🎤 Uni Posca Markers. Wildflowers are unique because they grow without any help from us. I recently saw them having a grand ol’ party growing on the side of the freeway and that snapshot alone inspired these shoes. I have a YouTube video for my visual learners. Check it out below.
Alright, are you ready to create some floral shoes!? Let’s round up the supplies to get started.
- Canvas Shoes
- Uni Posca Markers
- Painters Tape
- Paper Towels
Directions:
Step 1. Grab a pair of canvas shoes from your favorite craft store or your closet.
Step 2. Place masking tape on the rubber soles to prevent paint marks.
Step 3. Choose pink for the center of the flower, yellow for the leaves, and black for the center dots.
Step 4. Add half circles on the shoe as seen below.
👩🏽🎨 Quick Tip: If you want to cover the entire shoe with smaller wildflowers, create a combination of half-circles and full circles.
Step 5. Draw lines away from the half circles. These lines are like guides that help you stay on track with the wildflower design.
Step 6. Use the yellow posca marker again, but this time create fast strokes going downward with a feathered end. Follow the lines that we made in the previous step.
Step 7. For the final step, we will add black dots on the pink area and that’s it!
You just created some vibrant wildflower shoes! Yellow and pink combined together makes anything pop!
Want to add some positivity to your shoes? Write an encouraging sentence in between the flowers using the black posca marker.
That’s it for today! I hope you have a blast customizing or repurposing your canvas shoes.
Until next time, whatever you do, make it with zeal!
