Growing up, I couldn’t wait to watch the 1969 Frosty the Snowman broadcast during Christmas break. Frosty’s joyful heart and loving personality would always help me get into the Christmas spirit.
Believe it or not, this ornament was a last-minute change. I sat with a Christmas tree design for a few days but ultimately chose to create a Frosty-inspired pattern instead.
As you can see from the photo above, the ornament is pretty small. The final measurement comes out to 1.7″ wide x 2.7″ tall.
The pattern is easy to follow and can be completed in under 24 hours. I worked on it for three days because our two-year-old son Elias wanted all my attention. The toddler mom life is fun but exhausting. Pray for me when you can, lol
I used perforated canvas instead of Aida because of its sturdiness and ability to handle more wear and tear. I’m unsure if other cross-stitchers use paper templates to help with finding the center, but this method works for me.
Sidenote: Did you notice the missing backstitch around the body? The pattern has backstitching around the snowman’s body, but it’s totally optional.
The best part about creating this ornament was breaking out my Aurifloss. Aren’t the colors so vibrant?
You will use more thread strands with perforated canvas than if you were using Aida. I’d suggest using three or four strands with Darice’s perforated canvas.
I finished the ornament by gluing the ribbon and felt to the back of Mr. Snowman using my Ryobi Cordless Hot Glue Gun.
That’s it for my December blog recap. Thank you to Clover USA and Aurifil Threads for your partnership.
