December is all about spreading love, hope and decorating that Christmas tree. This year marks Eli’s second Christmas, so I decided to make our miniatue tree more personalized. The lovely people at SuperMoss kindly sent me some of their preserved reindeer moss to create Christmas ornaments. I think it’s always fun to switch up from the traditional decorations to try something new, so I’m excited to share this project with you!
Here’s what you’ll need to create these Christmas Moss Ornaments:
- Cork Coasters
- SuperMoss Perserved Reindeer Moss -Dusty
- SuperMoss Perserved Reindeer Moss – Azul
- SuperMoss Perserved Reindeer Moss -Sunflower
- Hot Glue Gun
- Wood Alphabet Set
- (3) Jump Rings
- Ornament hooks or twine
- (Optional)- Mini Vaccum
Step 1. Start by using a hot glue gun to attach the jump ring to the cork coaster. This will be used to secure the ornament hook in place.
Step 2. Add a generous amount of hot glue to one of the cork coasters, then sandwich them together. Wondering why I chose to use two cork coasters instead of one? Well, I found that the second coaster provides more support for the jump ring to stay snug in the center, which means (Yay!) – no lost jump rings.
Step 3. Choose the first initial in your name from the wood letters, then pick a moss color that you want to use for each ornament. SuperMoss sells 26 colors of preserved reindeer moss, and out of those colors I decided to use I chose Azul, Sunflower and Dusty.
Step 4. Alright, are you ready to work with some moss?! Feel free to use tweezers or your hands to add the moss onto the cork.
🧹Clean Up Tip: Keep a mini vacuum close for quick cleaning.
Step 5. Trim the Moss with scissors to clean up the edges.
Step 6. Glue each letter to the center of the moss. Oh, be sure to press the letter into the moss quickly because hot glue dries fast!
✨Tada! Aren’t the ornaments super cute?✨
Step 7. For the final step, attach an ornament hook or twine to the jump ring for hanging.
Now, let’s add the moss ornaments to the tree!
Well, that’s it for 2021! I had a blast planning and completing this blog. It is my hope that you enjoyed it and consider making unique ornaments this year or in the future. Thank you to the SuperMoss family for sponsoring this blog post.
If you decide to create this, you know I want to see it!
